Illaryon: UX Design Process for AI
Automation Business
Illaryon is a project focused on creating AI-driven solutions that help businesses automate operations and improve efficiency.
User Research & Discovery
For Illaryon, my research focused on understanding the AI landscape and identifying business automation trends. I performed a competitor analysis, exploring how similar platforms integrated AI solutions. Through this research, I identified that most competitors focused most heavily on customer service automation, leaving a gap for broader business process automation. Additionally, many businesses struggled with AI adoption due to complexity, which helped shape our goal of creating user-friendly, accessible AI solutions. Additionally, I researched user needs and common challenges businesses face when adopting AI, helping to shape the design direction.
From User Personas to Journey Maps
As part of the design process for Illaryon, I created several user personas based on research. Ultimately, I chose to focus on Sarah, a small business owner, because her challenges—like managing time and needing easy-to-use tools—aligned directly with Illaryon’s goal of simplifying AI for businesses. By prioritizing Sarah's needs, we ensured the platform would be accessible to non-technical users, while still offering powerful automation tools.
After developing user personas, I created a detailed User Journey Map to visualize how users would interact with Illaryon at different stages. This helped map out potential pain points and opportunities for improvement.
If you'd like to explore the user journey map further, you can check it out on Figma.
Wireframing & Prototyping
Step 1
In the wireframing stage of the Illaryon project, I created initial wireframes using Figma to map out the structure and layout of key pages, including the homepage, services, about page, and contact form. These wireframes were designed to focus on usability and navigation, ensuring a seamless experience for users.
Step 2
In the high-fidelity prototyping stage, I transitioned the initial wireframes into detailed, high-fidelity prototypes using Figma. These prototypes closely resembled the final look and feel of the Illaryon Homepage & About page.
I refined each element to ensure a more polished and professional design, incorporating visual styles, colors, and typography consistent with Illaryon’s branding. This phase involved:
-
Detailed Visual Design: Adding colors, typography, and images to create a cohesive and visually appealing design that aligns with Illaryon’s brand identity.
-
Interactive Elements: Implementing clickable elements and interactive components to simulate the user experience and test functionality.
While not all text and sections in the high-fidelity prototype made it to the final product, the prototype was instrumental in visualizing the end result and guiding the development process. Some sections were further extended or modified in the final website to enhance clarity and user engagement.
Key Takeaways
Illaryon gave me the opportunity to work on every aspect of the UX process, from research to final product. By focusing on user personas and journey mapping, I created a website experience tailored to non-technical business users. The wireframing and prototyping phase was invaluable in refining the flow and ensuring seamless navigation. The project underscored the importance of thoughtful design, balancing functionality with simplicity to support Illaryon's mission of making AI accessible to all businesses.
Improvements for the Future
-
Some features and buttons could be more user-friendly.
-
The chatbot feature, previously functional, stopped working due to budget constraints.
-
Simplifying the overall website layout would improve navigation.
-
Adding more interactive demos.
-
Enhancing mobile responsiveness for a smoother experience.
With more time & effort, I believe these adjustments could help Illaryon continue to evolve and meet user needs even better .
